Breaking News - New AKC Title for Master National Retrievers: The MNRC board approved a proposal from the AKC for a new title for our retrievers. The proposal includes awarding the title MNH to dogs passing three Master National Events (current Hall of Fame requirements) and includes a provision to make the title retroactive for dogs currently meeting the criteria. The proposal goes to the AKC board and its approval is anticipated by the first of next year.  For details, contact your MNRC regional representatives, an article will appear in the next Newsletter.

The 2010 Master National is almost here! Word from Janet Peters is that the technical ponds are ready to go and the cover looks great. It’s dry and in the 90s in Corning now but we will keep you posted on what to expect as we approach 10-10-10.  Entries Close: Sept.3rd!

For those attending the Master National and for fans at home, our PR committee promises to post pictures and update Callbacks as they become available. Handlers can receive updates through a unique Text Message Service.

And a big thank you to Mia DiBenedetto and Jack Combs for volunteering for the PR/Communications Committee. I think everyone who was at last year’s event know Mia and Jack – the Poodle folks! Their talented Poodle made history last year by being the first to qualify at a Master National. They are perfect for this job – Mia works for NBC news and Jack is a professor at Brown University. They have already made huge contributions via the MNRC website, Facebook,  and Twitter. Join me in welcoming them to the MNRC team.
